Stephanie Zimmermann (Chicago). Stephanie joined the Chicago Sun-Times as a reporter in 1996. In 2005 she began writing “The Fixer,” a three-times-a-week column that so far has recovered more than $1 million for readers. Before becoming a columnist, she was a consumer reporter and an investigative reporter for the Sun-Times and for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, writing about such topics as domestic violence, scams in the moving industry, investment fraud and unsafe security guards. Stephanie began her career at the Wheaton (Ill.) Daily Journal and has also worked as a reporter and an assistant city editor at the Daily Herald in suburban Chicago and as a freelance radio reporter in Nairobi, Kenya, for the Voice of America.
