Sheryl Stolberg

Sheryl Stolberg (Washington). Sheryl is a political features writer in the Washington bureau of The New York Times. She previously served as a White House correspondent during the administrations of George W. Bush and Barack Obama. She joined the Times in 1997 as a science correspondent in Washington, covering the intersection of science and policy, including such topics as AIDS research, bioterrorism and the debate over the use of embryonic stem cells. In 2002, she moved to Capitol Hill to cover Congress, and held that assignment for several years before assuming the White House beat in 2006. She began her career at The Providence Journal in Providence, R.I., and later joined the Los Angeles Times, where she shared in two Pulitzer Prizes for coverage of race riots in 1992 and a devastating earthquake in 1994. At The New York Times, she shared in a 2009 Loeb Award for “The Reckoning,” a series examining the causes of the current financial crisis.
