Richard L. Berke (New York). Richard is national editor of The New York Times. From 2006-2010 he was assistant managing editor for news at the paper. He joined the paper in 1986 as the night editor in the Washington bureau and as a reporter or editor covered six presidential campaigns, Congress, the White House and domestic policy. He spent more than 10 years as a national political correspondent and, more recently, was the Washington editor and an associate managing editor. Before joining the Times, he was a reporter at The (Baltimore) Evening Sun, the Minneapolis Tribune and the Los Angeles Herald Examiner.
