Philip Scheffler

Philip Scheffler (New York). Philip began his career at CBS News in 1951 as a copy boy for “Douglas Edwards and the News,” and he retired in 2003 as the executive editor of “60 Minutes,” which he joined as a producer at its inception in 1971. In his 52 years with the network, he has been a writer, reporter, editor and associate producer of a variety of news programs and has reported from all but three of the United States and more than 50 foreign countries. Broadcasts he produced or supervised have won many awards, including the Peabody, the duPont and numerous Emmys, including one for lifetime achievement. He is a consultant to CBS News and a contributing editor to “60 Minutes.”
