Matea Gold (Washington, DC). Matea is a political correspondent for the Los Angeles Times in the Washington bureau. From 2005-2010 she was based in the New York bureau. She joined the paper in 1997, and has reported on gangs, poverty and immigration in East Los Angeles. For five years she was a political reporter, covering Los Angeles City Hall, California’s 2003 gubernatorial recall election and two presidential campaigns.
