Jonathan Woods is the photo editor for TIME.com. Prior to joining TIME, he spent three years as a multimedia editor for msnbc.com. His journalism career began as a summer photography intern at Community Newspapers Inc., covering the 27 suburbs of Milwaukee, and was also a summer intern at the Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Gazette, The Tennessean in Nashville and the Rocky Mountain News in Denver before returning to the Gazette as a photojournalist in September 2007. His photos have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and USA Today. Among the stories he has covered and coordinated are the end of NASA’s human spaceflight program, Japan’s earthquake and tsunami, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster, the Haiti earthquake, Hurricane Katrina and record-breaking flooding in Iowa. He has won numerous awards from Editor & Publisher, National Press Photographers Association and the Hearst Photojournalism Championships.
