Jennifer Preston (New York). Jennifer is a reporter covering the intersection of social media and politics, government, business and real life at The New York Times. She took on this new beat in January 2011 after working as the newsroom’s first social media editor, helping her fellow journalists find the value in social media for reporting, real-time publishing and building community. She has worked at The Times since 1995 as a political reporter, statehouse bureau chief and newsroom manager. She also oversaw four Sunday suburban weekend sections. Before joining the Times, she worked as a reporter and editor at New York Newsday, where she won the New York Press Club Gold Typewriter award for outstanding public service.
