Jay Newton-Small (Washington). Jay is a correspondent for Time, covering Capitol Hill and politics. She also contributes regularly to Time.com’s political blog, “Swampland.” In 2008, she covered the presidential campaign, starting with the primaries and caucuses and eventually traveling extensively with the Democratic nominee, Sen. Barack Obama. Before joining Time in 2007, she was a reporter for Bloomberg News, where she covered the White House, Congress and the 2004 presidential campaign.
